If you haven't seen Sang-ho Yeon's Korean zombie flick TRAIN TO BUSAN, you haven't seen one of the best horror movies of 2016. It's an electric thrill ride that effortlessly flew to the top of my favorites list. Well, luckily it has been doing well enough in the international market (it's a massive hit in Korea) that we're getting to see SEOUL STATION, the animated companion piece film that was released around the same time in Korea.
Also directed by Sang-ho Yeon, SEOUL STATION is a prequel to TRAIN TO BUSAN that got picked up for a massive slate of international distribution at the Asian Film Market in, of all places, Busan. The flick will soon be rampaging across Spain, Andorra, North America, Japan, Austria, Benelux, Germany, Myanmar and Switzerland, though no official release dates have been announced yet.
I'm crazy excited for this one. It's not every day that you see an animated film that's also a hardcore zombie apocalypse thriller. That's not exactly in the Pixar wheelhouse.
In SEOUL STATION:
A man desperately searches for his runaway daughter as the government struggles to shut down the area around a zombie outbreak.
SEOUL STATION stars Seung-ryong Ryu, Joon Lee, and Eun-kyung Shim.
