If you’re a fan of animated superhero films, like me, then you’ve got June 12th marked on your “Girls of Marvel” calendar for the release of HELLBOY: BLOOD AND IRON. The film not only looks really damn cool (judging by the trailer) but also has the voices of Ron Perlman, John Hurt, Selma Blair, and Doug Jones. This is good news to me because I personally hate it when new voices are sought out for a project like this.
HELLBOY: BLOOD AND IRON is the brainchild of HELLBOY
creator Mike Mignola, Guillermo del Toro, and Tad Stones. The film’s plot reads like this: In 1939, the young Professor Broom destroyed the vampire Erzsebet Ondrusko. Now, decades later, it seems that someone is trying to bring her back and Professor Broom wants to investigate this worrisome development himself.
The agents from the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense – Hellboy, Liz Sherman and Abe Sapien – go with him, far more worried about defending their top researcher than with anything paranormal! But their view is soon revised when they find themselves battling werewolves, ghosts, harpies…even Erzsebet herself.
The trailer looks pretty cool, as I get a “GHOSTBUSTERS cartoon meets an R-rated horror flick” feel from it. The animated film should be pretty meaty too, as it check in at a mean 75 minutes. Check out the trailer by going HERE.
