Last year, we lost genre icon Angus Scrimm several months before the release of PHANTASM: RAVAGER, which saw him play his most famous role, the villainous Tall Man, one last time. PHANTASM: RAVAGER is not the last performance we'll see from Scrimm, though. He has a role in a film that is expected to be released in 2017: DANCES WITH WEREWOLVES, written and directed by Dan Golden and Donald F. Glut.
DANCES WITH WEREWOLVES has had a couple public screenings so far, with the next one coming up at George R.R. Martin's Jean Cocteau Cinema in Santa Fe, New Mexico on January 27th. Coinciding with these screenings, a trailer for the film has been released online and can be seen below.
Featured in this trailer is Scrimm, playing the role of a vagrant named Neumann. Scrimm's co-stars include Aqueela Zoll, Tatiana DeKhtyar, Omar Paz Trujillo, Lauren Parkinson, Madeleine Wade, Jacqui Holland, Jim Tavare, and Jane Park Smith.
DANCES WITH WEREWOLVES tells the following story:
Cassie flees an abusive relationship and falls victim to a moon-worshiping 600 year old Romanian Countess; a troubled paranormal investigator of Native American heritage finds himself in a deadly love triangle with a battered-woman werewolf.
The presence of Scrimm earns this film a spot on my "Must See" list. I won't be able to attend the Santa Fe screening, but I'm hoping that those of us who can't make it there won't have to wait much longer to see the movie.
