Angelina Jolie Murder on the Orient Express

The last feature film adaptation of Agatha Christie's "Murder on the Orient Express" was certainly the star-studded affair with actors like Albert Finney, Lauren Bacall, Ingrid Bergman, Jacqueline Bisset, Sean Connery, John Gielgud, Anthony Perkins, Vanessa Redgrave, Michael York, and others taking part. Fox's upcoming remake will certainly have to go the extra mile if they're hoping to match that talent, and although it's still early days on the project, it's looking promising. Kenneth Branagh is attached to direct and star in the film as detective Hercule Poirot and today's news points to Angelina Jolie joining him as the first passenger on the Orient Express.

First reported by The Daily Mail and later confirmed by other outlets, it seems that Angelina Jolie is currently circling a role in MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS. If the deal closes she would play Mrs. Harriet Hubbard, the role played by Lauren Bacall in the 1974 film. The novel follows Hercule Poirot (who was featured in many Agatha Christie stories) as he investigates the murder of an American business tycoon on a train, only to find that there are a number of passengers who could potentially be the murderer. The latest screenplay comes from Michael Green (BLADE RUNNER 2) and production on the film is expecting to kick off this November.

MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS is set for a November 22, 2017 release.
