Tom Cruise is busy putting himself in harm's way for our entertainment in the upcoming sixth installment of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE franchise, but the cast of the Christopher McQuarrie film continues to grow. Many of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE regulars will be back, including Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames, as well as several members of ROGUE NATION such as Rebecca Ferguson, Alec Baldwin and Sean Harris.

Per Deadline, the latest member of the MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 cast will be Angela Bassett. The actress will start work on the film next week and she'll be playing the director of the C.I.A., which makes it likely that she'll have a scene or two in which she's exasperated by Ethan Hunt not doing things by the book. That guy, I tell ya. Angela Bassett will be joining fellow MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE newcomers Henry Cavill (BATMAN V SUPERMAN: DAWN OF JUSTICE), Vanessa Kirby (The Crown) and Sian Brooke (Sherlock) in the film. Bassett recently wrapped on Marvel's BLACK PANTHER, in which she plays Ramonda, the step-mother of T'Challa (Chadwick Boseman).

We still don't know all that much about the upcoming sequel, but Christopher McQuarrie has teased that the film will give us a "very different" Ethan Hunt and explore his character in a deeper way than any of the previous movies have. As for the action side of things, Tom Cruise has spent an entire year training for an action sequence which will apparently "top anything that's come before." I can't wait.

MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE 6 is set for a July 27, 2018 release.
