Surprisingly there hasn’t been too many fictional films that have used the Woodstock music festival as a back drop.
Cue TAKING WOODSTOCK, the latest film directed by Ang “Brokeback” Lee and based on the memoir of Elliot Tiber who played a vital role in helping the historic 1969 music fest unfold on his neighbor’s farm.
The Film stars Daily Show alum Demetri Martin as Tiber and Emile Hirsch as a Vietnam vet. Other cast members include Paul Dano, Imelda Staunton, Liev Schreiber, and Eugene Levy. Pretty ideal, no?
It has always been difficult to pigeonhole Lee as a director, as he constantly challenges himself and audiences alike with genre-defying films. It should be interesting to see what he can do with the most infamous and iconic music festival as his base material. Me I’m excited.
