Andy Serkis reveals the basic story of Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

More DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES news is here. Andy Serkis will of course be reprising his role from RISE as Caesar, the evolved ape who leads his fellow primates in a revolt against human society. As we learned from Chuck Heston in 1968 (and Marky Mark in 1998), the ape revolution represents the first steps toward the imminent downfall of mankind.

Or does it? Well, probably, but that doesn’t necessarily mean it is going down in DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. In a recent interview, Serkis revealed exactly what direction Reeves will be taking the film and how Caesar played into it:

“The interesting thing now will be how Caesar operates in this world–because of the virus that hits at the end of the first movie–and how Caesar brings an accord between the apes and the surviving humans and that’s going to be interesting where we take that.”

The Imaginarium Out of Ealing Studios, Serkis’ London-based performance capture studio, has already done pre-testing for DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. The film is gearing up for a Spring 2013 shoot under the direction of CLOVERFIELD filmmaker Matt Reeves. Does the plot of Caesar as peace maker make you want to go ape or ape-sh*t?
