Ruben Fleischer's VENOM starring Tom Hardy grossed more than $822 million in theaters worldwide and so it makes more than a bit of sense that Sony has a VENOM 2 in the works. Fleischer has moved on to directing ZOMBIELAND: DOUBLE TAP and so today we hear that MOGLI director and LORD OF THE RINGS actor Andy Serkis might be the man behind the camera for the next adventure starring Tom Hardy. Sources say that while Serkis flew to Los Angeles for meetings with Sony earlier this week, he is one of several filmmakers in the mix. We'll let you know when we hear more.
Rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for language, the original film followed the adventures of
Eddie Brock, a broken man after he loses everything including his job and fiancee. Just when his life is at its lowest, he becomes host to an alien symbiote which results in extraordinary superpowers – transforming him into Venom. Will these powers be enough for this new lethal protector to defeat great evil forces, especially against the far stronger and more weaponized symbiote rival, Riot?
VENOM is directed by Ruben Fleischer (ZOMBIELAND) and features Tom Hardy (THE DARK KNIGHT RISES, MAD MAX: FURY ROAD), Michelle Williams (SPECIES), Riz Ahmed (ROGUE ONE: A STAR WARS STORY), Jenny Slate (HOTEL ARTEMIS), and Woody Harrelson (ZOMBIELAND, NATURAL BORN KILLERS). Jeff Pinkner & Scott Rosenberg and Kelly Marcel wrote the script, Avi Arad, Matt Tolmach, and Amy Pascal produced.
VENOM is now available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD. Buy it HERE.
