Back in August, we let you guys know that director Andy Muschietti and his producing partner/sister Barbara Muschietti would really like to film a remake of King's PET SEMATARY.
Back in that article, they stated simply: "We’re huge fans of Pet Sematary. If we can get our hands on that and do the Pet Sematary we want to do, that will be something. One day, maybe."
Today we have news that the Muschietti siblings have been talking up the remake again, this time with EW, and basically, they are dying to get the film up on the screen as soon as possible.

My affection for Pet Sematary will go on until I die. I will always dream about the possibility of making a movie.

We’ll see who gets to it first. But it is the first Stephen King book that we read, and it’s something that has been a great love because it is possibly King’s most personal book. You can imagine his young family. What will you do to be able to keep your family? How far would you go?
I really hope we can do it. But if we do it, we have to do it justice, like we did with It. The versions we read in the past years, the scripts we’ve read, have not been, in our opinion, representative of the book.
How do you feel about the Muschiettis taking on PET SEMATARY after wrapping on IT CHAPTER 2? Let us know in the new comments section below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
PET SEMATARY synopsis:
Doctor Louis Creed moves his family to Maine, where he meets a friendly local named Jud Crandall. After the Creeds' cat is accidentally killed, Crandall advises Louis to bury it in the ground near the old pet cemetery. The cat returns to life, its personality changed for the worse. When Louis' son, Gage, dies tragically, Louis decides to bury the boy's body in the same ground despite the warnings of Crandall and Louis' visions of a deceased patient.
