Andy Muschietti confirms that The Flash will be his next directorial effort

Last week JUSTICE LEAGUE actor Ezra Miller confirmed that a standalone feature starring DC's red-suited speedster, The Flash, is "absolutely confirmed." Miller said as much while speaking with W Korea, and now Fandango has confirmed that THE FLASH will be Andy Muschietti's next directorial effort.

The IT: CHAPTER TWO director spoke about his plans to helm THE FLASH when talking to the entertainment outlet about his follow-up to last year's re-imagining of the Stephen King horror classic. When Fandango correspondent Nikki Novak asked Muschietti if THE FLASH would be his next project, he replied with a Pennywise-like grin, "Yup."

When asked if THE FLASH will contain any horror elements similar to the IT movies, Muschietti stated that it's not his intent to make the red blur's standalone venture a spooktacular event.

“An element of horror? I don’t think so. What captivated me about the Flash is the human drama in it,” he said.  “The human feelings and emotions that play in the drama [of it]. It’s going to be fun, too. I can’t promise that there will be any horror [elements in it], really, but it’s a beautiful human story.”

When last we'd checked, BIRDS OF PREY and BUMBLEBEE screenwriter Christina Hodson was reportedly in talks to write THE FLASH. Such as that being the case, the only concrete info we have so far is that Ezra Miller will reprise his role as Barry Allen aka The Flash and that Muschietti is set to direct. It's not much, but perhaps after the IT: CHAPTER TWO press tour dies down we can expect more details to come racing in. My fingers are officially crossed, as I think Muschietti will do a fine job when building out a fast-paced adventure for DC's science-driven speedster.
