IRON SKY: THE COMING RACE, the sequel to the 2012 "Nazis from the moon" film IRON SKY, won't be released for another two months, but the third film in the franchise is already filming in China.
Series director Timo Vuorensola remains at the helm for IRON SKY: THE ARK, which moves the absurd sci-fi action
to China, linking the Iron Sky universe with the ancient Chinese fairytale of Chang’e.
If you're not up on your Chinese mythology, Chang'e is the goddess of the Moon.
IRON SKY / IRON SKY: THE COMING RACE star Udo Kier returns for THE ARK and is joined in the cast by Lin Yi, Vivienne Tien, and Rhydian Vaughan, with Duan Yihong as scientist Fang Mingtao and Andy Garcia as billionaire Illuminati mastermind William Russell.
IRON SKY: THE ARK has been filming at Wanda Studios in Qingdao since October and will continue shooting through early 2018 – quite an impressive shooting schedule. The film is being produced by China Film Co., Jiabo Culture Investment Co. and Jetsen Cultural Media Group.
I can't remember if I watched IRON SKY when it came out, but this franchise seems to have gotten bigger than I ever would have expected.
IRON SKY: THE COMING RACE is scheduled to be released on February 14th, 2018. IRON SKY: THE ARK is expected to be released in China sometime in 2019.
