Andor fan video gives the Star Wars series a 1970s intro

It’s Andor Eve, folks! The season one finale of the acclaimed Star Wars series will drop on Disney+ tomorrow, which means that we’re in for a very long wait for the second and final season. Thankfully, fans like the Auralnauts pick up the slack with fun projects like giving Andor a 1970s-style intro. It’s well worth a watch, and you can check it out above!

With an appropriate 1970s tone, the narration for the Andor intro begins: “As a ruthless Empire tightens its grip, one man, chosen by happenstance, will rise up to become a leader of a revolution. He is a new kind of hero for a new age. His name, is Andor.” With some inspiration from Doctor Who and Space: 1999, the Andor intro imagines the series having been released in 1975, two years before George Lucas would unleash the first Star Wars movie on the world.

Production on the second season of Andor recently kicked off but isn’t expected to premiere on Disney+ until 2024. The first season covered a year in the life of Cassian Andor, but the second will cover the next four years. Creator Tony Gilroy said, “Our last scene of the show, our 24th episode, will walk the audience directly into Rogue One and directly into the first scene of Rogue One.“

“Andor will explore a new perspective from the Star Wars galaxy, focusing on Cassian Andor’s journey to discover the difference he can make,” reads the official Andor synopsis. “The series brings forward the tale of the burgeoning rebellion against the Empire and how people and planets became involved. It’s an era filled with danger, deception and intrigue where Cassian will embark on the path that is destined to turn him into a rebel hero.” As of tomorrow, all twelve episodes of the first season of Andor will be streaming on Disney+.
