A month ago, the news broke that THE BABYSITTER / MAYHEM star Samara Weaving had signed on to star in the Fox Searchlight thriller READY OR NOT, which is being directed by Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin of the filmmaking team called Radio Silence. With the production start date swiftly approaching, Weaving has now gotten her first co-star.
Andie MacDowell has signed on to play the mother-in-law of Weaving's character.
It sounds like MacDowell's character might be up to no good, because the screenplay by Guy Busick and Ryan Murphy tells the story of
a young woman who is invited on the night of her wedding by her new husband’s rich, eccentric family to participate in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.
MacDowell hasn't done a lot of genre work over the course of her career, but I can definitely imagine the three-time Golden Globe nominee doing something great within a set-up like that.
READY OR NOT is being produced by Tripp Vinson of Vinson Films, James Vanderbilt, Bradley Fischer, and William Sherak of Mythology Entertainment, with Tara Farney, Tracey Nyberg, and Radio Silence's Chad Villela executive producing.
Filming will be taking place this fall.
