Can I get an ‘Amen’. I said can I get an ‘AMEN!’
You’ve read right folks, it seems that
writer/director Paul W.S. Anderson will be stepping aside from the
CASTLEVANIA film adaptaion, which will be taken over by Sylvian White; and I
could not be happier.
It’s not that I hate Anderson or anything, I just
don’t really like his directing style. I think he’s been almost type-cast as a
videogame to flix director and it’s not really a suit that fits him well. Also
with what White had to say to
Variety about the film has me thinking that he
may have some definite potential in bringing the battle between Dracula and the
Belmont to the big screen in a very cool way.
White said “Most of the
vampire films have been present or set in the future, from ‘Blade’ to
‘Underworld,’ and I was attracted by the chance to make a dark, epic period
movie that almost has an anime feel to it.” Making it dark and an
anime feel to it? Count me in! Hopefully with a mindset like this we won’t end
up with another
VAN HELSING.
I know White seems like a strange choice here
considering he’s most well known for his blockbuster sleeper STOMP THE YARD,
quite possibly the furthest thing from a film adaptation about a vampire video
game, but he must know what he’s doing because he’s also scooped up Frank
Millers graphic novel adaptation of RONIN, which is sure to be very cool as
well.
What are some thoughts on all this. I know there
are some Anderson fans out there, so what do you think? Spit some bullets and
let’s hear it! To read the full article over at Variety, click
