One of our favorite up-and-coming directors to keep an eye out for here at AITH is THE BAD BATCH and A GIRL WALKS HOME ALONE AT NIGHT helmer Ana Lily Amirpour. And so we're excited to let you guys know that Amirpour's new film is all set to roll and it has attracted some big stars.
Today Deadline reports that Kate Hudson (THE SKELETON KEY) and Craig Robinson (GHOSTED) are set to star in the writer/director’s third feature BLOOD MOON. Zac Efron is in talks to join as well. Oscar-winner John Lesher (BIRDMAN) produces this new horror-thriller via his Le Grisbi banner.
Lesher said in a statement:
Lily’s unique vision and poetic style sets her apart from the pack. She is truly one of the most exciting filmmakers working today.
Set in hedonistic streets of New Orleans, the film is inspired by fantasy-adventure movies of the ’80s and ’90s and follows
The story of a girl with strange and dangerous abilities who escapes from a mental asylum in New Orleans.
Evidently, the new film will be pairing "strange, violent, and humorous sequences" with "a range of music from heavy metal to Italian techno." Sounds like good times to us! I mean hearing word that Kate Hudson and Zac Efron will be co-starring in a movie together isn't exactly news to me, but add in Craig Robinson and Ana Lily Amirpourfor and I'm there! Even if THE BAD BATCH was, truthfully, a little underwhelming…
