An exact replica takes over Madeline Brewer’s life in Cam trailer

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

Netflix has released the first trailer for a CAM, a technology-driven psychological thriller which stars Madeline Brewer (The Handmaid's Tale) as Alice, an ambitious camgirl who makes her descent into digital madness after waking up to discover that she's been replaced on her show with an exact replica. As her digital world crumbles around her, Alice struggles to regain control of her life and discover just who the mysterious person is who has taken her place. CAM premiered at the Fantasia International Film Festival earlier this summer, where it was met with very positive reviews (with many singling out praise for Madeline Brewer) and even snagged awards for Best Screenplay (Isa Mazzei) and Best First Feature (Daniel Goldhaber). The film has largely flown under my radar until now, but the trailer looks like just the right amount of mindf**ky for me to check out.

The official synopsis for CAM:

CAM is a technology-driven psychological thriller set in the world of webcam porn. It follows Alice, an ambitious camgirl, who wakes up one day to discover she’s been replaced on her show with an exact replica of herself. As this copy begins to push the boundaries of Alice's internet identity, the control that Alice has over her life, and the men in it, vanishes. While she struggles to regain what she's lost, she slowly finds herself drawn back to her show and to the mysterious person who has taken her place.

CAM will be released on Netflix on November 16th.
