After being made for a mere (in Hollywood terms) $12 million and earning over $21 million in its opening weekend, PROJECT X co-writer Michael Bacall (SCOTT PILGRIM VS THE WORLD) has already been tasked with writing the treatment for a sequel. Whether said treatment is then turned into a script will be up to producers Todd Phillips and Joel Silver, so a sequel isn’t necessarily a sure thing. Except, to be honest, it kind of is. When has having to force a sequel to work ever stopped a studio from trying to make more money?
I personally think the only way they can adequately amp up the level of insanity for a sequel is to make “Project X-2: Mutants Gone Wild.” I’d absolutely see that in a heartbeat.
