Ridley Scott's ALIEN prequel / PROMETHEUS sequel ALIEN: COVENANT continues to be filmed behind a veil of secrecy, just teasing out simple images here and there, like shots of Scott on set with actors Danny McBride and Michael Fassbender, a patch on a costume, a picture of a monitor with Katherine Waterston's character on it. The most revealing thing we've seen so far were spy pics of an alien battleground.

The latest official tease from the production is an 8 second behind-the-scenes video that was posted to the Alien social media accounts. In this video, a crew member is doing some work on a large alien hand, and the most intriguing thing about this is the fact that the hand is not your typical Xenomorph hand. Although it has been said that all of the familiar ALIEN creatures will be appearing in ALIEN: COVENANT, this hand seems to belong to something else.

What, exactly? The filmmakers are keeping us in the dark about that.

Written by Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan, ALIEN: COVENANT is set a decade after the events of PROMETHEUS and has the following synopsis:

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

Fassbender reprises the role of David. He, Waterston, and McBride are joined in the cast by Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, Benjamin Rigby, and Noomi Rapace.

All of ALIEN: COVENANT's secrets will be revealed when it reaches theatres on August 4, 2017.
