After stepping away from the spotlight to welcome her son, Gene Attell Fischer, into the world, Amy Schumer is ready to get back into the game! As part of her mission to retake your social media feeds and subscription-based streaming services, Schumer has signed a first-look deal with Hulu to help distribute projects that the comedic actress has in the works.
One such endeavor that falls under the deal is a newly-announced half-hour comedy series titled LOVE, BETH. The I FEEL PRETTY actress will star in, write, direct, and executive produce the project. The series is set for a 2020 launch to the tune of a 10-episode order. Kim Caramele, Schumer's sister, will also executive produce alongside Kevin Kane.
In addition to hosting an episode of Saturday Night Live's 43rd season in 2018, Schumer is poised to star alongside Steven Yeun (OKJA, THE WALKING DEAD), Beanie Feldstein (BOOKSMART), Richard Jenkins (THE SHAPE OF WATER), and Jayne Houdyshell (BOUTY HUNTER, GARDEN STATE) for THE HUMANS. Set inside a pre-war duplex in downtown Manhattan, THE HUMANS follows the course of an evening in which the Blake family gathers to celebrate Thanksgiving. As darkness falls outside the crumbling building, mysterious things start to go bump in the night and family tensions reach a boiling point. The project hailing from SPEECH & DEBATE writer Stephen Karam has yet to reveal the nature of Schumer's character for the project.
While Schumer's in-your-face brand of humor might not be everyone's cup of tea, camera's and entertainment rags sure do love following her around. Here's hoping that she returns to the scene refreshed and ready to make people laugh.
