It wasn’t long ago that, in a rather bizarre turn of events, comedian Amy Schumer was gearing up to star in the toys-to-life film BARBIE for Mattel and Sony Pictures. Unfortunately, I guess, Schumer proclaimed that due to a scheduling conflict it became necessary for her to drop out of the forthcoming project. Part of me totally saw her exit coming. One the other hand, I’m a tad upset by the departure, if only because I can’t imagine for the life of me what an Amy Schumer-led BARBIE movie would be like. Perhaps we should just chalk it up to my morbid curiosity going unfulfilled and move on, yes?
Today, it’s been announced that the blonde bombshell joke-maker has signed on to star in I FEEL PRETTY, a comedy feature film based on a script written and to be directed by Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein for McG’s Wonderland Sound & Vision and Voltage Pictures. In addition to starring in the picture, Schumer will also act as the film’s producer alongside Wonderland’s McG and Mary Viola. Voltage’s Alissa Phillips, Dominic Rustam and Nicolas Chartier will play a hand in the project’s production as well. Additionally, Kevin Kane, a friend and co-worker of Amy’s will help to co-produce the film.
As of the moment, no plot details concerning the film have been revealed. However, it is worth nothing that the planned comedy will mark the HOW TO BE SINGLE and HE’S JUST NOT THAT INTO YOU writers Abby Kohn and Marc Silverstein directorial debut.
Filming for I FEEL PRETTY is scheduled to begin this coming Summer. However, if you need to get your big screen Schumer on before this movie wraps, be sure to check out SNATCHED (hitting theaters May 12, 2017), starring Amy Schumer and Goldie Hawn as a mother/daughter duo who find themselves in over their heads after trying to take a harmless vacation with one another.
