"Fishing relaxes me. It's like yoga, except I still get to kill something."
Yesterday, PARKS AND RECREATION stars Amy Poehler and Nick Offerman made an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to promote Making It, a six-episode reality competition series co-hosted by both comedic all-stars.
"People who make things are my favorite kind of folk," Offerman said in a statement about the episodic program that focuses on woodworking and other home-related projects. "Practical, clever and terrific in a pinch. That makes me tickled pink to have a front row seat at this prodigious display of talent, and admiring and cheering on an amazing crop of American makers. Plus, Amy and I have a strong tradition of tomfoolery so let’s see if we don't have some good fun."
Of course,no interview with the duo would be complete without touching on the possibility of PARKS AND RECREATION one day returning to the airwaves. After all, we're living in a time when beloved properties are being rebooted left and right, so why not give the good folks of Pawnee a chance, right?
When asked about reassembling the PARKS & REC crew, Poehler, who's an executive producer on the workplace comedy, replied to Ellen by saying “I’ll speak for everybody and say we would all do it,” Ha! You might want to consult everyone about their schedules, Ms. Poehler, though I admire your gumption. The SNL alum then added “I think we would all do it someday. It would be amazing.”
For my money, a PARKS AND RECREATION reunion would be amazing! There might be some red tape to sort through, given comedian Aziz Ansari's precarious standing in the public eye as of late, though nothing is ever impossible. Perhaps if the pieces fall into place, we could see stars the likes of Adam Scott, Aubrey Plaza, Chris Pratt, Jim O'Heir, Retta, Rashida Jones, and Rob Lowe reunite for another season of feel good comedy and sweet Ron Swanson one-liners.
“We just had a fitting earlier,” Offerman joked of Ellen's daytime talkshow program. “We said if Beyoncé will play the mayor, we’ll bring the show back.” Beyoncé Knowles, Offerman clarified, just in case there was any confusion.
“The singer?,” asked DeGeneres, in jest.
“Yes, the singer,” Offerman affirmed with faux-seriousness.
Are you a fan of PARKS AND RECREATION? Do you think Chris Pratt has time in his Marvel and Jurassic schedule to reprise his role as the lovably-goofy Andy Dwyer? How about Aubrey Plaza, for that matter? After all, she's doing incredible things over at FX with Marvel's LEGION. I suppose that only time will tell. I'll say this much, if they're thinking about getting the Pawnee crew back together, they better whole-ass the reunion. Fans won't accept much else.
Little Sebastian for life, yo!
