Parks and Recreation is arguably one of the best sitcoms to air in over the last ten years and it has sustained its relevance thanks to a strong streaming presence. The series premiered in 2009 and ran for seven seasons, with a special reunion episode airing on April 30, 2020. In an industry where just about everything is rebooted, star Amy Poehler says she’s actually down for a redo of Parks and Rec.
During an interview with People, Poehler gave a short but encouraging answer about doing a Parks and Rec reboot. When asked Poehler said, “[I’m] always standing by. Anytime anybody gives the word, and I’m down.” The fact that the star of the series is down to do this bodes well for its chances if it were ever to become a possibility.
Amy Poehler played Leslie Knope, an overachieving bureaucrat in an Indian Parks and Recreation department. She wants to be the one to oversee the addition of a park to her but she faces constant opposition from all angles. The show came from Michael Schur and Greg Daniels, the creators of The Office, and it followed the same mockumentary style that was popular in that series. During its run, the series was nominated for 12 Emmys, and Poehler won a Golden Globe award for her performance as Leslie Knope. In addition to Poehler, the series also starred Aziz Ansari, Adam Scott, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, and Nick Offerman.
