On the JoBlo Horror Originals YouTube channel, we got the week started with a WTF Happened to This Horror Movie? video that looked at the making of Tobe Hooper’s The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Now we’re wrapping this week up with another episode of the WTF Happened to This Horror Movie? video series, and with this one we’re digging into another “part 2” from the 1980s, Amityville II: The Possession (watch it HERE). Check it out in the embed above!
Directed by Damiano Damiani from a screenplay by Tommy Lee Wallace and Dardano Sacchetti, and based on the Hans Holzer book Murder in Amityville, Amityville II: The Possession has the following synopsis:
Soon after the Montelli family buys a house in the Long Island suburb of Amityville, unsettling events begin to occur. Mysterious demons seem to infest the house, preying on abusive father Anthony and ferociously religious mother Dolores, who calls on family priest Father Adamsky for an exorcism. Teenage Sonny is drawn furthest into madness, abusing his younger sister, Patricia, and eventually exploding in a horrific fury.
The film stars Burt Young, Rutanya Alda, James Olson, Jack Magner, Diane Franklin, Andrew Prine, Leonardo Cimino, and Moses Gunn.
This is what the WTF Happened to This Horror Movie series is all about:
Hollywood has had its fair share of historically troubled productions. Whether it was casting changes, actor deaths, fired directors, in-production rewrites, constant delays, budget cuts or studio edits, these films had every intention to be a blockbuster, but were beset with unforeseen disasters. Sometimes huge hits, sometimes box office bombs. Either way, we have to ask: WTF Happened To This Horror Movie?
The Amityville II: The Possession episode of WTF Happened to This Horror Movie was Written by Matthew Pejkovic, Edited by Lance Vlcek, Narrated by Jason Hewlett, Produced by Lance Vlcek and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
