It was way back in November that we brought you guys the news that John Landis' son Max Landis (writer of CHRONICLE) was set to write and direct a remake of his father's classic flick AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON.
Since then news has been quiet on the AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON Remake front. Until today that is. Today when we got an update on how the remake is progressing via a podcast I have zero familiarity with called The Rugged Man Podcast.
Whatever the podcast may be, the interesting things is little Landis stopped by the show recently and talked up his AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON film, throwing out some cool nuggets of info, including his approach to practical FX vs CGI and his approach to the remake in general.
You can check out all of Max Landis' comments below and then let us know what YOU think of the upcoming AN AMERICAN WEREWOLF IN LONDON remake on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
Landis on practical effects and CGI:
The thing I would do with CGI, were I directing this film, would be leg movement, and I would have the entire wolf’s face, back and body be practical, and then I would fully CGI the legs for organic movements. If you remake American Werewolf and the transformation scene isn’t practical, you have fu*ked up.
Landis on making the film:
We’ll see if I can do it. We’ll see if I can pull it off. We’ll see if they even make it. My goal is I feel like all of the best remakes focus on one thing in the original movie, take a lot of the images of the original and then remix that really tightly. With American Werewolf I’m doing that, but I’m also just gonna try and do American Werewolf as best I can. We’ll see. I can’t make no promises.
Max Landis next flick (as screenwriter) BRIGHT, starring Will Smith hits Netflix this December.
