AMERICAN PSYCHO is being remade, as I unfortunately reported last week, but the good news is that instead of a full-fledged reboot, it appears that the thing might actually be headed for the bargain bin with a tiny budget and not much studio support. Apparently the worldwide reaction to the news is not what they were hoping to hear.
Author of the original book Bret Easton Ellis got wind of the reboot, and had one specific demand for the studio:
“I have warned Lionsgate that I will not approve a new version of ‘American Psycho’ unless it stars SCOTT DISICK or MILES FISHER.”
Miles Fisher makes sense, as he’s a very talented young actor who has the memorable “This Must Be the Place” video where he acts as Bateman. Scott Disick on the other hand? He may look the part, but he’s reality TV douchebag you’d only know if you watched Keeping Up with the Kardashians. Saying he’s the most dislikable person on the show is really saying something in that cast.
Anyway, though this might be half a joke, let’s hope this idea gets scrapped altogether.
