For a long time, American Horror Story co-creator Ryan Murphy has been dropping hints about the theme of the FX show's upcoming tenth season by posting images of beaches and the sea, stirring up speculation that there's going to be some aquatic horror action (since there's also been an image of a human-like mouth full of sharp teeth, the speculation has really focused on killer mermaids), but I'm not sure anyone caught on to the idea that Murphy was teasing two separate horror stories: one set at sea, and one on the beach.
As it turns out, American Horror Story season 10 is going to be split into two separate stories with those different settings, which is why the season is titled Double Feature.
Murphy broke the Double Feature news on his Instagram:
The cast of American Horror Story: Double Feature includes Sarah Paulson, Macaulay Culkin, Kathy Bates, Evan Peters, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, and Finn Wittrock.
Murphy has said that Culkin will be playing an "insane part" that involves having "crazy, erotic sex with Kathy Bates". Paulson teased that her character "has some issues" and sports a hair color that has never been on Paulson's head before.
American Horror Story: Double Feature starts airing on FX later in 2021.
