Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuck’s American Horror Story series returns October 17th on FX, this time under the title American Horror Story: Asylum. This time around, the story will jump between present day and the 1950’s, taking place in an asylum for the criminally insane with a cavalcade of crazy characters, including murderers, alien abductees, nymphomaniacs, and mutated zombies. No, I didn’t make any of that up. This new 60-second trailer gives us the best look at the overall story for the series, but doesn’t come close to tackling the whacked-out shit that Murphy and Falchuck have discussed in interviews. Either way, it’s enough to get returning fans pumped and potentially pull in some new viewers.
Get committed:
Season one of the series blew me away. It really pushed the limits of cable TV, which had me wondering if I was watching a pay channel from time to time, giving me even more respect for FX, which constantly pushes out great original programming. American Horror Story is no exception. Plucking actors from the first season and repurposing them in different roles is a brilliant move and we’ll see many returning faces, including Jessica Lange, Zachary Quinto, and Sarah Paulson, as well as a number of new ones, including Adam Levine, Jenna Dewan, Choloe Sevigny, James Cromwell, and Joseph Fiennes.
Set your DVRs or tune in on October 17, 2012 as American Horror Story: Asylum brings the crazy.
