AMC casts Nico Tortorella to lead its third The Walking Dead spinoff series

Last Updated on July 30, 2021

AMC has announced that non-binary actor Nico Tortorella will be shambling over to the network's third series in THE WALKING DEAD franchise as its lead character, Felix. Described as an honorable man of his word, Felix isn’t afraid to fight for others’ safety and acceptance.

When the untitled series comes to AMC, the show will focus on the first generation to come of age after the zombie apocalypse. Some characters will arrive as heroes, while others will use the world's new circumstances to villainous ends. Make no mistake, though. In the end, all of them will be changed forever.

According to Deadline, who exclusively broke the news about Tortorella's casting this afternoon, his being a part of the new Walking Dead spinoff will not interfere with his remaining a key player on Darren Star's TV Land comedy series YOUNGER. The show has recently been renewed for a seventh season, with Tortorella continuing as his character, Josh.

In what we know about the new Walking Dead spinoff so far, its been confirmed that production on the show has begun in and around Richmond, Virginia. When the series eventually makes its AMC debut, Tortorella will be joined by Annet Mahendru, Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Nicolas Cantu and Hal Cumpston for the latest adventure of life after most of the world's population gets real bitey.

The yet-to-be-titled spinoff will be produced and distributed by AMC Studios, and will premiere on the network in the spring of 2020. KONG: SKULL ISLAND helmer Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct the series co-created by Scott Gimple and The Walking Dead veteran writer and producer Matt Negrete. Additionally, Negrete will also act as the series' showrunner.
