Amazon’s final trailer for The Boys is a NSFW bloodbath of epic proportions

Everyone loves superheores, right? But what if all that strength, charisma, and celebrity went to their heads? What if, one day, the saviors of tomorrow transformed into the villains of today? This concept and more are set to be explored when THE BOYS comes to Amazon Prime on July 26.

Based on The New York Times best-selling comic by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, “The Boys” was developed by showrunner Eric Kripke (“Supernatural”), who also serves as writer, executive producer and director of the season finale. Joining Kripke as executive producers are Point Grey Pictures’ Seth Rogen (“Preacher”), Evan Goldberg (“Preacher”), and James Weaver (“Preacher”), Original Film’s Neal H. Moritz (“Prison Break”), Pavun Shetty (“New Girl”) and Ori Marmur (“Preacher”), as well as Ken Levin and Jason Netter. Ennis and Robertson also co-executive produce.

Here's the official synopsis for Amazon's THE BOYS:

The Boys, launching July 26 on Amazon Prime Video and in production on season 2, is a fun and irreverent take on what happens when superheroes – who are as popular as celebrities, as influential as politicians and as revered as Gods – abuse their superpowers rather than use them for good. It’s the powerless against the super powerful as The Boys embark on a heroic quest to expose the truth about The Seven, and Vought – the multi-billion dollar conglomerate that manages these superheroes and covers up all of their dirty secrets. The Boys are Billy Butcher (Karl Urban, “Star Trek”), Hughie (Jack Quaid, “The Hunger Games”), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso, “Detroit”), Frenchie (Tomer Capon, “Hostages”), and The Female (Karen Fukuhara, “Suicide Squad”). Simon Pegg (“Mission: Impossible – Fallout”) guest stars as Hughie’s father.

The superpowered of The Seven are led by Homelander (Antony Starr, “Banshee”) who is joined by Starlight (Erin Moriarty, “Captain Fantastic”), Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott, “House of Cards”), A-Train (Jessie T. Usher, “Independence Day: Resurgence”), The Deep (Chace Crawford, “Gossip Girl”) and Black Noir (Nathan Mitchell, “Supernatural”).

While trailers for THE BOYS have presented the upcoming eight-episode series as anything but tame, the final footage shared today paints the series as an all-out bloodbath with broken bones and innards to spare. Having read The Boys early this year, I can promise you that we're all in for a fucked up ride that places a warped spin on heroism, and how do-gooders can turn bad when given half the chance. One thing's for sure, this ain't your daddy's superhero show, my friends. In fact, if Amazon's THE BOYS bares even a vague resemblance to its source material, we're about to witness some of the most heinous action ever captured for a comic book-related property. I'm talking about a little bit of the old ultra-violence, rape, and deplorable acts of vengeance that would make even Alex of A CLOCKWORK ORANGE blush. Seriously, if you see any of The Seven coming your way, it's best to stay the inside and lock your door. Granted, that won't stop them from breaking it down, but at least you'd be able to say that you tried.

THE BOYS will be back in town when Amazon Primes new series arrives on July 26.
