Amazon Studios continues their trend of developing new television series based on book characters as Variety has reported that the streaming service is currently developing a new show based on James Patterson's Alex Cross.

Alex Cross is a highly-skilled investigator and psychologist who has worked as a detective with the D.C. Metropolitan Police Department as well as a senior agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The character has appeared in nearly 30 novels, and it's not yet know which specific story or stories the Alex Cross TV show will focus on. There's still no guarantee that the project will move forward, but Alex Cross has appeared on-screen several times before, played by Morgan Freeman in KISS THE GIRLS and ALONG CAME A SPIDER, as well as by Tyler Perry in ALEX CROSS. You might remember that one as the film which featured a disturbingly ripped Matthew Fox (Lost). The Alex Cross series will be the latest collaboration between Amazon Studios, Skydance Television, and Paramount Television Studios, who have already worked on Tom Clancy's Jack Ryan (a third season is on the way) as well as the recently greenlit series based on Lee Childs' Jack Reacher novels.
