Amazon’s Lord of the Rings series will reportedly focus on young Aragorn

By the time Amazon’s LORD OF THE RINGS series hits the small screen they will have spent about a billion dollars bringing it to life, and there are an equal amount of directions the show could take. The exact details around the show have been murkier than the Dead Marshes, but a new piece of news informs us that the series will center around a young Aragorn.

According to TheOneRing.net, an often major source of all things regarding Middle-earth, put out a tweet saying they’ve confirmed the show’s first season will focus on Aragorn in his younger years. Nothing official has been put out by Amazon, so best take this with a grain of lembas bread. How are these Middle-earth references doing?

Aragorn was famously played by Viggo Mortensen in Peter Jackson’s LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy and is the heir of Isildur and the rightful king of Gondor. His character has relationships with some other major characters in the trilogy that go back years before the events of the movies (and books), including Gandalf, Legolas and more. This and the fact Aragorn is about 87 years old in the main trilogy means there is a rich history to draw on, and one that could involve us seeing beloved characters come and go.

As I said it is wise to tread lightly around this news, as there is still not a lot that has been officially been confirmed by Amazon, but it may at least be a hint at where they are taking things. Plus, the language of the tweet hints that maybe this first season will focus on Aragorn, but future seasons could focus on someone else. Details about the show that came out last month said the show has a current order for five seasons, so Amazon will need a ton of material in order to fill that quota and deliver what they hope is their own version of GAME OF THRONES.

So, what does everyone think? Are you down for an Aragorn show, or would you rather it be focused on someone like Gandalf? He does have a few thousand years on Aragorn, and his life is probably much more magical. Plus, don't you want to know how he got that excellent pointy hat?
