There have been several setbacks along the way, but as production on David Lynch's Twin Peaks revival is finally getting started, we may actually get to see the long-awaited continuation of the classic television series after all. With Kyle McLachlan set to return as Agent Dale Cooper and Twin Peaks creators Mark Frost and David Lynch penning every episode of the new series, we should be in for one damn fine television revival.
We don't know much as yet about which characters will be returning, but TV Line has learned that Amanda Seyfried will be joining the cast of Twin Peaks in a role which is naturally being kept under wraps, although TV Line does say that the role will be both pivotal and recurring. While Amanda Seyfried is mostly known for her film roles nowadays, she's had memorable recurring roles on both Veronica Mars and Big Love so it's not like television will be a new experience for her.
The Twin Peaks revival, which will consist of nine or more episodes, was originally set for a 2016 release on Showtime but was later pushed back to 2017. Co-creator Mark Frost has said that he still hopes "we make 2016. It’s not clear. It’s ultimately going to be in their control. They’re going to shoot the whole thing and then they’ll start posting…but I’m hoping sooner rather than later."
