RCG, the production company formed by Rob McElhenney, Charlie Day, and Glenn Howerton, the guys behind the FX comedy series It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia (a show I really need to catch up on), is teaming with the entertainment company Rooster Teeth to create a dark comedy animated series called Spikeface… and this is of interest to horror fans because the main characters in the show are horror villains.
McElhenney will be executive producing the series with 3 Arts Entertainment, Rooster Teeth co-founders Matt Hullum and Burnie Burns, and writers Geoff Barbanell and Itai Grunfeld. The idea Barbanell and Grunfeld crafted together is about
one of the world’s great horror icons, who slaughters a couple at a roadside motel — before he discovers they have a baby girl and decides to raise the orphan as his own. That pisses off his roommates, who also are iconic horror villains.
So basically it's like THREE MEN AND A BABY if the three men in question had been Freddy Krueger, Jason Voorhees, and Michael Myers (or Leatherface, if you prefer). Details on the horror villains that will be featured in Spikeface have not been revealed, but someone involved must go by the name in the title.
This sounds like fun to me, and I'm interested to see how the story's characters will be portrayed.
Spikeface is being produced by Rooster Teeth Animation and will be released through Rooster Teeth's own streaming service, which is called First. Subscriptions to First start at $4.99 a month.
