Alvin and the Chipmunks director Mike Mitchell goes Gremlins with the Jitters

Mike Mitchell, director of ALVIN AND THE CHIPMUNKS: CHIPWRECKED and SHREK FOREVER AFTER, is going the GREMLINS route. He’s been attached to direct JITTERS for Paramount, with Chris Bender and JC Spink of Benderspink (get it?) producing. The screenplay, written by Marc Haimes, is under wraps but is known to center around a dysfunctional family that moves into a new neighborhood, only to be terrorized by genetically altered bugs.

While it’s supposed to be a family film it’s said to be similar in tone to the Amblin movies of the 1980s- a little bit darker, and described as in the same vein as GREMLINS when it was announced back in 2009.

Always in the mood to see some kids get terrorized by little beasties! More on JITTERS as we hear it.
