Alrighty Then! Ace Ventura: Pet Detective heads to Netflix in May

Return to a time when Jim Carrey ruled the Earth because his breakout film, ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE, is headed to Netflix in May.

ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE will be available to stream on Netflix beginning on May 1, 2020. The film began Jim Carrey's comedic box office dominance which carried over in such films as THE MASK, DUMB AND DUMBER & BATMAN FOREVER. ACE VENTURA follows a goofy detective specializing in animals that goes in search of the missing mascot of the Miami Dolphins. The news was announced on the Netflix official Twitter page in a tweet that can be seen below:

Released in 1994, ACE VENTURA: PET DETECTIVE proved to be very successful, grosssing $72.2 million domestically  and $107.2 million worldwide on a $15 million budget. The film was followed by a sequel in 1995 called ACE VENTURA: WHEN NATURE CALLS. The sequel proved to be even more financially successful, grossing $108.3 million domestically and $212.3 million globally. I don't think the sequel, despite the higher gross, is as fondly remembered as the first film but it as released during Jim Carrey mania and just about anything that guy touched back then turned to gold. 

I haven't seen ACE VENTURA in years so this might be the perfect time to revisit it. The film isn't on the high end of Carrey comedies for me (I prefer THE MASK or LIAR LIAR) but there's no denying that it's deemed a comedic classic of its era and has its fair share of fans.
