The folks in charge of the ALIEN: COVENANT social media accounts definitely know how to tease fans, occasionally dropping images and videos online that give us glimpses of activity on the set and behind the scenes but reveal absolutely nothing. They've offered up a picture of a patch on a character's uniform, shots of director Ridley Scott and actors (Katherine Waterston, Michael Fassbender, Danny McBride, Waterston again, McBride again), and a quick look at the crafting of an alien hand.
Yesterday they did it again, marking the fact that we were one year out from the film's August 4, 2017 release date by posting a video of Waterston's character in a hypersleep pod, waiting to arrive at her final destination: the big screen.
Serving as a sequel to PROMETHEUS and a prequel to the original ALIEN, ALIEN: COVENANT was written by Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan. The plot:
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
In the cast with Waterston, Fassbender, and McBride are Benjamin Rigby, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, and Noomi Rapace (pictured above on the set of PROMETHEUS).
