As we creep ever closer to the May 19, 2017 release date of director Ridley Scott's PROMETHEUS sequel / ALIEN prequel ALIEN: COVENANT, we can expect to start seeing a bit more from the project than the behind-the-scenes teases and spy pics we've been getting by on so far. First, however, we do have two more of those behind-the-scenes images, this time an intriguing shot of some gun-toting characters moving through a field and a picture of some sleep pods.
While that shot of people with guns presumably on a Xenomorph hunt is rather thrilling, the most interesting thing about these teases is the fact that the pictures were accompanied by some kind of code. The field shot was captioned "220512052104", the pods captioned "130112062104".
Fans are speculating that these numbers are some kind of countdown to the release of the film's first trailer, but just how the countdown works isn't clear. Some say the trailer could be arriving by the end of this week… We can only wait and see.
Scripted by Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan, ALIEN: COVENANT is believed to be set ten years after the events of PROMETHEUS and has the following synopsis:
Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Katherine Waterson (pictured above with Scott), Danny McBride, Benjamin Rigby, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, Noomi Rapace, James Franco, and Guy Pearce star, along with Michael Fassbender in the dual role of androids David and Walter.
