Alien: Covenant’s Amy Seimetz to join Jason Clarke in Pet Sematary

Our Stephen King cup runneth over. Largely thanks to the enormous success of IT, a variety of Stephen King projects were put into development, including a new reboot of PET SEMATARY. The original film was based on the 1982 King novel, which followed a family who moved into a new home next to a cemetery endowed with powers which allowed the creatures buried within it to return from the dead.

Set to be helmed by Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer (STARRY EYES), the PET SEMATARY reboot has been assembling its cast, and Variety reports that Amy Seimetz (ALIEN: COVENANT) is the latest to join up. The outlet doesn't elaborate on which role Seimetz will play, but many are assuming that she'll be playing Rachel Creed, wife of Dr. Louis Creed. Denise Crosby (Star Trek: The Next Generation) memorably played the role in the 1989 original film. Jason Clarke will star as Dr. Creed, with John Lithgow also on board to play Jud Crandall. "Sometimes, dead is bettah." Production is expected to begin this summer with the film set for an April 19, 2019 release.

Jeff Buhler, who penned the script for the remake, has said that they're aiming to bring us one of "the scariest Stephen King adaptations ever."

There may be Victor, there may be some Zelda, and there will definitely be some Louis and Rachel and Gage and Ellie. I will say this, if you love the book, you’ll love this movie. (Directors) Dennis and Kevin are both such visionaries in terms of how they’ve approached it, from not only a horror standpoint but also a character standpoint, and it’s been really gratifying to work with those guys. I think we’re on track to it make one of the scariest Stephen King adaptations ever! That’s our goal anyway.

I can't remember exactly how old I was when I first saw PET SEMATARY, but it scared the hell out of me at the time, doubly so when I realized the younger brother of one of my friends looked EXACTLY like Gage Creed. I recall sleeping over during a birthday party and getting up in the middle of the night to find him standing at the top of the stairs staring down. Not a fan.
