Alien: Covenant is already getting a sequel in novel form!

If you thought the franchise chronology of ALIEN: COVENANT being a sequel to the ALIEN prequel PROMETHEUS was confusing, I have some bad news for you. We're just getting started. You see, COVENANT has already been greenlit for a sequel, but not in the way you'd think.

The upcoming Alan Dean Foster novelization of the film from Titan Books will be getting a sequel, titled ALIEN COVENANT 2: THE OFFICIAL SEQUEL TO THE BLOCKBUSTER FILM! The 304-page novel will arrive on September 26th, 2017, just four months after the film's release. So the book's sequel will also be the film's sequel, which is still a prequel to the original. Yeah, I'm lost.

Directed by Ridley Scott, ALIEN: COVENANT serves as both a prequel to Scott's ALIEN and a sequel to his film PROMETHEUS. Set twenty years before ALIEN and ten years after PROMETHEUS, COVENANT was written by Michael Green, Jack Paglen, and John Logan, and tells the following story:

Bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy, the crew of the colony ship Covenant discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the "synthetic" David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The film stars Katherine Waterston, Danny McBride, Benjamin Rigby, Demian Bichir, Jussie Smollett, Carmen Ejogo, Amy Seimetz, Callie Hernandez, Billy Crudup, Noomi Rapace, James Franco, Guy Pearce, and Michael Fassbender (in a dual role as two different androids).

ALIEN: COVENANT will be released on May 19, 2017.
