Well, I'll be damned if Alicia Vikander doesn't look like she's ready to explore some forgotten territories and smash a few priceless artifacts to dust as Lara Croft in Roar Uthaug's upcoming TOMB RAIDER movie! Today, Warner Bros. Pictures has released the first TOMB RAIDER poster, which has Vikander looking on-point as one of gaming history's most iconic heroines. From the look of it, Lara will no longer be sporting the tightly woven braid and bun of her 1996 gaming debut, but rather the tussled ponytail and torn-tank motif from the 2013 re-imagining of the character.
You can check out the new poster below:
Furthermore, we've also got a teaser for the new film, with a full trailer expected to hit tomorrow!
Rather than build off of the Paramount Pictures TOMB RAIDER films starring Angelina Jolie as the savvy somersaulting seeker of all things shiny, Uthaug will direct from a script penned by TRANSFORMERS: THE LAST KNIGHT scribe Geneva Robertson-Dworet with Walton Goggins, Hannah John-Kamen, Dominic West, Daniel Wu and Alexandre Wilaume rounding out the film's primary cast.
While there are certainly plenty of directions one could take when helming a Tomb Raider-related adventure, Uthaug's action vehicle will feature Lara Croft as a fiercely independent daughter of a missing adventurer, who finds that she must push herself beyond her limits after finding herself on the island where her father disappeared. It's been several years since her father vanished into thin air, and now, a young Lara Croft is finally ready to begin her search for answers.
My body is so ready for this. Like many people, I'll be there with ancient supernatural chimes on for when TOMB RAIDER arrives in theaters on March 16, 2018.
Be sure to check back with us tomorrow for when the full trailer for TOMB RAIDER goes live!
