Alice Monaghan and Ben Daimio go on patrol with Hellboy in new pic

Word around the Ninth Circle of Hell water cooler is that an official trailer for Neil Marshall and David Harbour's HELLBOY will emerge tomorrow, finally giving fans a look at Big Red's upcoming R-rated adventure. Ahead of the trailer reveal, Entertainment Weekly has debuted a new pic from the film, which shows Harbour's Hellboy standing tall among Sasha Lane's Alice Monaghan and Daniel Dae Kim's Major Ben Daimio. The duo are set to join Hellboy for Marshall's new film, which is written by Andrew Cosby (EUREKA, 2 GUNS) and based on the Dark Horse comic book series Hellboy by Mike Mignola. With regard to powers, Major Ben Daimio is able to transform into a werejaguar when under extreme stress, while Monaghan "retains a connection to the magical world after being kidnapped by fairies as a child."

While chatting with EW, Harbour reassured fans that the new film is "not an origin story," though it will center on Hellboy and his supernatural compatriots.

“It’s not an origin story, but it’s his coming to terms with where he came from,” Harbour explained. “He’s been Hellboy for a long time, but there’s a new turn of events at the start of the film, where people start to bring up the fact that he might bring about the end of the world, and it’s really the first time he’s heard anything like that. The question that comes up in the movie is where does he really belong?”

In addition to exploring his roots, the new film will find Hellboy questioning his rocky relationship with the Bureau of Paranormal Research and Development, an organization that investigates paranormal happenings throughout the world. You see, Hellboy hasn't quite figured out if he can trust the humans. Add to this the fact that monsters are vying for Big Red's allegiance and you've got a push-and-pull with cataclysmic consequences. Oh, and let's not forget about Milla Jovovich's Nimue the Blood Queen, a powerful witch looking to exact her revenge on the humans who burned and tortured her own kind. To say that Hellboy will have his hands full this time out is a gross understatement. I mean, all of Hell could literally break loose if he chooses the wrong side, or makes a false move, or runs out of ammo. For real. The stakes are real high, people.

“We really three-dimensionalized her in the movie,” Harbour told EW of Jovovich's Blood Queen. “She was brought up in a culture that treated her kind a certain way, and it wasn’t always deserving. That’s the point that becomes compelling to Hellboy and spins his head around.”
