Alexandre Aja would already love to make Crawl 2

Producer Sam Raimi & director Alexandre Aja's upcoming killer alligator motion picture CRAWL is all set to flood a theater near you this Friday. The MPAA slapped the flick with an R-rating for "bloody creature violence, and brief language." And already director Alexandre Aja is telling us that he would love to make CRAWL 2

Aja on the possibility of a CRAWL sequel:

There is a lot of potential for other stories. I like the idea of a home invasion type of movie where the home invasion starts with disaster coming inside your own house, and then the creature coming as well. So yes, a sequel, why not? Different characters, different story. We had an opening scene that we never shot that was part of the story, because there were obviously other victims during these events. But I would love to go back to explore maybe other creatures.

If the elevator pitch of "47 METERS DOWN meets JAWS but with alligators and a hurricane" isn't enough for you to grasp just what we can expect to see this summer, then here is the movie's official synopsis:

When a massive hurricane hits her Florida town, young Haley ignores the evacuation orders to search for her missing father, Dave. After finding him gravely injured in their family home, the two of them become trapped by the rapidly encroaching floodwaters. With the storm strengthening, Haley and Dave discover an even greater threat than the rising water level — a relentless attack from a pack of gigantic alligators.

Directed by Alexandre Aja from a screenplay written by Shawn Rasmussen and Michael Rasmussen, CRAWL stars Kaya Scodelario (THE MAZE RUNNER) and Barry Pepper (SAVING PRIVATE RYAN). Sam Raimi produces the flick along with Craig Flores (300, 300: RISE OF AN EMPIRE). Paramount Pictures originally announced that the "nature run amok" horror film would be – pardon the pun – crawling into a theater near you on August 23rd of this year… but since then the powers that be behind the scenes have moved the movie forward a month to July 12, 2019.
