Alexandra Daddario amongst four testing for Netflix’s Jessica Jones series

Last Updated on August 5, 2021

With Marvel and Netflix deep into filming the new DAREDEVIL series, the other announced comic book projects at the streaming entertainment service have yet to get underway. But, it looks like one of those shows, JESSICA JONES, is ready to begin the search for their leading lady.

Deadline revealed the four actresses testing for the lead role in the series: Jessica De Gouw, Teresa Palmer, Alexandra Daddorio, and Krysten Ritter. All four names should sound familiar. Daddorio is likely the best known name and was long supported by fans as a potential Wonder Woman candidate. She is also known for her amazing nude scene on TRUE DETECTIVE last season. Krysten Ritter rose to fame as the love interest of Jesse Pinkman on BREAKING BAD before working on television in sitcoms like DON’T TRUST THE BITCH IN APARTMENT 23. Teresa Palmer starred in the Adam Sandler film BEDTIME STORIES as well as the scifi film I AM NUMBER FOUR but is best known for her work in the zombie movie WARM BODIES. Jessica De Gouw played Huntress on The CW’s ARROW as well as NBC’s fated DRACULA series last year.

There is also word that two actors are screen testing for the role of Luke Cage. Both Lance Gross (CRISIS) and Mike Colter (THE FOLLOWING, THE GOOD WIFE) have small screen experience. Luke Cage is expected to debut in a half dozen episodes of JESSICA JONES before moving into his own Netflix series.

JESSICA JONES will be run by Melissa Rosenberg, best known as the screenwriter on all of the TWILIGHT films as well as multiple episodes of DEXTER. Here’s the rundown for the series.

[The series] centers on Jessica Jones, a superhero suffering with post-traumatic stress disorder, which leads to her hanging up her costume and opening her own detective agency, where she ends up helping people and assisting other superheroes.

Jessica Jones, Iron Fist, Daredevil, and Luke Cage will all be developed at Netflix and eventually converge for a mega-series called THE DEFENDERS. All four actress choices are solid for Jessica Jones and would make for intriguing leads. Personally, I think Daddario is the one I would want to see the most but De Gouw may be the more efficient choice. Here’s hoping we find out who will be joining the series and soon.

Expect JESSICA JONES to debut sometime in 2015 on Netflix.
