It was only a week ago that the buzz surrounding Relativity Media's reboot of THE CROW had THE AVENGERS star Tom Hiddleston in talks to star, but now Deadline is reporting that Hiddleston may not get the opportunity to offer his take on the character as "True Blood" actor Alexander Skarsgard is actually the frontrunner for the part.
As far as the reports that Hiddleston was a shoe-in for the role, apparently the rumors about the actor’s involvement have been blown way out of proportion, stemming from a “simple conversation” regarding the project. Instead, sources are reporting that Alexander Skarsgård is top of the studio’s hit-list, with the part being his to turn down.
Skarsgård is just the latest in a long line of stars to be linked to the title role of Eric Draven, with the likes of Mark Wahlberg, Bradley Cooper and James McAvoy all having been considered for the part.
Acclaimed Spanish filmmaker F. Javier Gutierrez (BEFORE THE FALL) is directing THE CROW from a script by Cliff Dorfman (WARRIOR). Ed Pressman of Pressman Film and Kevin Misher of Misher Films are producing with Relativity CEO Ryan Kavanaugh and Jeff Most. Dan Farah of Farah Films will executive produce with Relativity's Tucker Tooley.
