I was kind of excited to see what Warner Bros' THE JUNGLE BOOK would be like with Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu behind the camera, but unfortunately, the director has left the project. Although he was interested in directing the film last month, Deadline has learned Inarritu has exited THE JUNGLE BOOK, and sources say it is because of scheduling. Disney is also working on their own version of THE JUNGLE BOOK with Jon Favreau directing, and Warner Bros. is going to have to find a replacement for Inarritu soon if they want their film to hit theaters before Disney's.
It's lame Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu won't be working on THE JUNGLE BOOK, but we do have his BIRDMAN to look forward to. The dark comedy is currently in post-production, and stars Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Edward Norton, Zach Galifianakis, and Naomi Watts.
