Alec Baldwin, Sharlto Copley, and Gemma Arterton up for parts in Men in Black III

Really enjoyed the first MIB, thought the second one was a piece of shit, and am so beyond indifferent for this third installment. But one very good thing seems to be that they’re building up MEN IN BLACK III with a pretty great cast.

According to Pajiba, Alec Baldwin, Sharlto Copley, and Gemma Arterton are all in negotiations to jump aboard the second Barry Sonnenfeld sequel. They’ll be joining a cast that already boasts the names of Will Smith, Tommy Lee Jones, Josh Brolin, Emma Thompson, and Jemaine Clement. Pajiba adds, “Arterton would play a secretary in the 1969 version of MIB; Baldwin would play the 1969 MIB boss; and Copley would play a fast-talking Yoda type alien.” Also, Pussycat Doll Nicole Scherzinger (pictured below) has been offered a cameo role as Clement’s girlfriend.

From our own detailed report earlier this year: “The film has Agent Jay sent back in time to 1969 where he teams up with a young Kay (Brolin) to stop an evil villain named Yaz (Clement) from destroying the world in the future.”

MEN IN BLACK III is set to begin production next month and will open Memorial Day weekend of 2012.
