Another Friday has arrived, and it's time to gather the latest additions to our JoBlo Horror YouTube channel (check it out and subscribe HERE) together in one place. It's the AITH HORROR VIDEOS OF THE WEEK!
This week, we covered the NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET sequel FREDDY'S REVENGE in a new episode of our series THE F*CKING BLACK SHEEP; ICONS OF HORROR CINEMA – Killer Reel brought together some of horror's greatest characters; we added KING OF THE VAMPIRES, starring Paul Sloan and Ralf Moeller, to our horror short film showcase; and a new episode of DEADLY DUOS took a look at the team of Stephen King and Mick Garris. All of these videos can be seen below.
FREDDY'S REVENGE – The Black Sheep
In the latest episode of THE BLACK SHEEP, we look back at A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET 2: FREDDY'S REVENGE. This was released back in '85 and became a sizable hit, even out-grossing the original. Once the reviews started coming in, Freddy's Revenge proved to be divisive among fans and critics. The mounting fan backlash was the eventual reason for making DREAM WARRIORS a return to form while completely ignoring part two.
While it's definitely a weird direction for a sequel and foolishly ignores the rules from the original, FREDDY'S REVENGE has gained a cult following over the years and now wears its BLACK SHEEP status like a badge of honor. As far as 80s horror movies go, this is one of the weirdest of the era and is a must-see for anyone interested in a "different" take on a famous horror series. Check it out and let us know your thoughts!

KING OF THE VAMPIRES – Short Horror Film
This badass SHORT HORROR FILM also acts as a PROOF OF CONCEPT for a feature film called KING OF THE VAMPIRES. Think a mix of military action and horror like SPECTRAL and OVERLORD.
The short was created with Grade A talent in its back-pocket. Am talking actor/bodybuilder Ralf Moeller (Gladiator, Universal Soldier) who shaved down and did full body makeup/custom fangs for the role, stellar SFX by genius Todd Masters (Slither), the DP was James Chressanthis (American Horror Story ) and it stars actor/action star Paul Sloan (I Am Wrath, Paydirt) who also penned the screenplay.
Here's the synopsis! A team of Mercenaries is hired by a wealthy Heiress to find and extract the last Pure-Blood vampire, raised in the deepest, darkest jungle as a savage barbarian, to become Lord of the Undead.
Here’s what Paul Sloan had to say about the project:
Thanks for calling attention to one of my favorite projects, these things take forever sometimes, but ya never know. The idea from KING OF VAMPIRES came from my love of old paperback novels and comics like DOC SAVAGE and SAVAGE SWORD OF CONAN, TARZAN. Always been fascinated by jungle adventures. And I'm also a fan of vampires. So Dracula in the jungle, sounded like fun. We shot that little teaser in a pool of fake blood in a warehouse in Van Nuys. And we got the star of Gladiator and Conan TV series Ralf Moeller to play the vampire. He added the authentic barbarian vibe we wanted. He had no problem tossing my character around like a rag doll, he's a big fella. And a great guy, he made it fun. Over the years had several close calls, directors and actors attached. I'm ready to go to Thailand if Netflix is!
MICK GARRIS + STEPHEN KING – Deadly Duos
On this episode of Deadly Duos, we examine the monstrous, apocalyptic, and horrifying collaborations of the most celebrated horror writer of all-time and one of horror cinema’s most underrated masters – Stephen King and Mick Garris.
Deadly Duos is Arrow in the Head’s series dedicated to featuring the iconic pairings of filmmakers who have worked together multiple times in horror films. Actors and directors, producers and composers, no matter the role or the era, every episode is a journey through the most beloved and classic (as well as obscure and forgotten) pairings that have made for the most memorable films in horror history.
