The Jedi padawan of Anakin Skywalker has officially started her live-action journey. The character of Ahsoka made her debut in the pre-Disney era of Star Wars with the 2008 animated series Star Wars: The Clone Wars. Fans really took to this new character, who was conceived by George Lucas and Dave Filoni, although she only truly existed through the spin-off show at the time. No official mention or reference had been made in Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith despite taking place after the events of The Clone Wars. However, the popularity of Ahsoka in the extended universe, especially in Star Wars: Rebels, would now bring her fully into realization with the new Disney+ series, Ahsoka.
Ahsoka is premiering on the streaming platform on August 23, but many have already been previewed to the first two episodes, and the early reactions to the show have been posted to Twitter aka X. The consensus among the viewers has been that it is a faithful continuation of Rebels and many praise Dave Filoni.
Our own Alex Maidy reacts:
“From the opening scene on, #Ahsoka delivers the most epic opening of any @starwars production since A New Hope. Dave Filoni and @rosariodawson have created a love letter to #Rebels and Prequel fans. Top notch action. This is THE Star Wars series we have been waiting for!”

“#Ahsoka first 2 episodes is a delight. A promising start full of action, great and fast-paced storytelling. Performances are simply amazing and definitely one of the show’s highlights. Really excited to see where this story will take us next.”

“#Ahsoka is a great return to form for the Mando-Verse! Rebels vibes all the way, with good exploration of relationships for both new and old viewers. Takes some time to get going but nails it when it does. Good performances across the board. Sets up Thrawn’s return v well.”

“#Ahsoka episodes 1 & 2 are tremendous. As expected, #SabineWren steals every single scene she’s in. The villains are tremendous, so very interesting, with so much potential. There’s a pace to the story that’s really enjoyable, and the character dynamics are fun.”

“I got to see #Ahsoka tonight. This was the first Star Wars show to have an opening crawl. Ahsoka is 100% a sequel to Rebels. The 2 episode premiere felt like it was right out of The Clone Wars & Star Wars Rebels, but in live action.”
On the flip side, @griffschiller posted:
“For better or worse, #Ahsoka is TFA for Rebels fans. Most traditional SW show yet, but incredibly stiff & sluggish. Sadly Dave just isn’t an interesting director. Hard to judge off of 2 eps, some interesting master/apprentice stuff, Ray Stevenson is the stand out. It’s fine.”
