Ashley Eckstein has voiced Ahsoka Tano for nearly fifteen years, starting with Star Wars: The Clone Wars movie in 2008. She continued to lend her voice to the character for The Clone Wars TV series, Star Wars: Rebels, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, and even made a voice cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Some fans had hoped that Eckstein would continue playing the role when Ahsoka finally made the leap to live-action, but when that day arrived, it was Rosario Dawson who took over the character in.

While speaking with Entertainment Weekly, Ashley Eckstein said that she finally got to meet Rosario Dawson on the set of the live-action Ahsoka series that’s currently in production. “She was just lovely,” Eckstein said of Dawson. “We just really hit it off, which I knew we would. I’ve been waiting to meet her for three years, and I was so excited. It was such an incredible moment.” As fans would naturally start to wonder just what Ashley Eckstein was doing on the Ahsoka set, she confirmed that she was only there to visit, and not to make a cameo.

I don’t wanna start a rumor. People are like, ‘She’s on the set. She played a character.’ No, it was just a set visit. So I have not filmed a cameo for the Ahsoka series.

Should Ahsoka receive a second season, Eckstein hopes she can return to make an actual cameo. “I talk about throwing your dreams out into the universe,” Eckstein said, “so it would be a dream come true if I got to do a cameo, because my background is in live action.” Although Rosario Dawson will be the live-action face of Ahsoka, Ashley Eckstein will continue to voice the character in any animated project. The latest project to feature Ahsoka is Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, which recently debuted on Disney+. Eckstein doesn’t know whether there will be a second season or not, but she certainly hopes so. “There’s so many moments that we didn’t get to see and so many questions we have and I think this is a great way to explore those questions and answer those questions,” Eckstein explained. “So, we’re starting with six, but man, it would be a dream if we got to make more.
