Our last update on A&E’s original series, “Bates Motel,” came back in March, when it was announced that former “Lost” executive producer Carlton Cuse had been hired to run the joint. If that marked a positive direction for the show, then this next bit of news counts as a huge vote of confidence from the network, and perhaps signals that the remodeling of the “Bates Motel” is going rather well.
A&E has ordered ten episodes of the thriller series, which is being produced by Universal Television. This indicates that the network is so sure the show will be a killer that it doesn’t even want to start with a pilot first and work from there (usual protocol for most series). Guess we’ll learn who’s checking into the “Bates Hotel” quite soon.
“Bates Motel” will give viewers an intimate understanding of how Norman Bates’ psyche developed from his childhood through his teen years. Fans will have access to the dark, twisted backstory and learn first hand how his mother, Norma, and her lover damaged Norman, helping forge the most well-known serial killing motel owner in history.
A 2013 premiere is planned.
